E.ON UK Lodges Application For Wind Farm In County Durham08/01/2007
E.ON applies to Sedgefield Borough Council to build its £26m Butterwick Moor wind farm. The scheme, which would see 10 turbines build around 3.3km north east of Sedgefield, could save almost 44,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere every year, or the equivalent of taking 13,000 cars off the road.

Aker Kvaerner Wins Northumbrian Water Contract13/01/2007
Aker Kvaerner awarded major contract by Northumbrian Water to provide the process requirements for the latest improvement scheme at the Bran Sands Effluent Treatment Centre. The award-winning Centre, at Teesport, treats domestic sewage together with the waste from several industrial processes from the surrounding area. The improvement scheme will partition part of the process to provide bespoke treatment solutions for two industrial waste streams.

E.ON UK Submits Planning Application For Gas Storage Facility16/01/2007
E.ON UK submits planning application to build underground gas storage facility in East Yorkshire. Last year E.ON carried out geological investigations to confirm the area's suitability for the facility. The company has now lodged a planning application to build the proposed scheme on a site to the north of Aldbrough.

Wood Group Pressure Control Wins North Sea Contracts22/01/2007
Wood Group Pressure Control awarded contracts by Talisman Energy Ltd and Plexus Ocean Systems Ltd. WGPC will provide planned maintenance services of wellheads and Christmas Trees for all Talisman's offshore assets in the North Sea. For Plexus, which has a contract with Newfield Petroleum to supply wellhead equipment to its Grove platform in the Southern North Sea, WGPC is to provide Christmas Tree wellheads.

Permission Granted For Toddleburn Wind Farm Development23/01/2007
Planning consent granted for development a 36MW (megawatt) wind farm at Toddleburn in the Scottish Borders which Scottish and Southern Energy plc ("SSE") agreed to acquire from I&H Brown in May 2006. The wind farm will have 12 turbines and construction work is expected to begin later this year, with the wind farm scheduled to be commissioned in early 2009. Its development will require the investment of around £40m.

AMEC Wins Thames Water Contract31/01/2007
AMEC awarded £28m contract by Thames Water to construct a 4.5km tunnel that will connect a major water treatment works to the London Ring Main and help ensure security of water supply to the capital. The 2.85m diameter concrete-lined tunnel will run from an existing shaft at Thames Water's reservoir site at Stoke Newington and join the Ring Main at the New River Head pumping station, Finsbury.

Go-Ahead for UK's First Ash Separation Plant06/02/2007
Scottish and Southern Energy plc ("SSE") and RockTron Limited ("RockTron") conclude agreement which will lead to the construction, at SSE's Fiddler's Ferry Power Station in Cheshire, of the first plant in the UK to separate the ash arising from electricity generation into constituent mineral parts for sale as cement substitute products and industrial minerals.

Green Light for Greater Gabbard Wind Farm20/02/2007
Wind farm with power to supply clean electricity to over 415,000 homes, more than all the demand in Suffolk, confirmed by Alistair Darling, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry. The Greater Gabbard (GG) scheme supplying 500MW through 140-turbines will cut CO2 emissions by 1.5m tonnes a year - the equivalent of taking 350,000 cars off the road. Project being developed by the companies Airtricity and Fluor.

ScottishPower to Build World's Biggest Wave Project21/02/2007
ScottishPower, working closely with the Scottish Executive, announce £10m wave power project designed to push Scotland to the forefront of global marine energy development. Four floating generators, designed to convert wave movement into electricity, will be moored off the European Marine Test Centre in Orkney in what will be the world's biggest commercial wave farm.

Aker Kvaerner JV Wins Contract to Support Decommissioning Project22/02/2007
British Nuclear Group award ACKtiv Nuclear Joint Venture (JV) - consisting of Aker Kvaerner, Atkins and Carillion - project to provide new operational export facility within the First Generation Magnox Storage Pond at Sellafield in the UK. The project entails stripping out, refurbishing and modifying the existing inlet building to provide the new facility.

AMEC Wins Chevron Oil Refinery Revamp Contract22/02/2007
AMEC appointed by Chevron as its Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) services contractor for a multi-million pound revamp of a fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU) at its Pembroke oil refinery. Starting immediately, AMEC will undertake design and engineering up to project sanction stage, after which it will carry out detailed engineering, procurement and construction management.
