Arctic Systems Case Delay Causes Anxiety20/04/2005
Presiding judge, Justice Park, in the appeal-case between Arctic Systems and the Inland Revenue on Section 660A, delayd his verdict until 6 May.


Qdos Tax Department Settles Over 170 Tax Enquiry Cases20/04/2005
During the last 12 months the Qdos Consulting's Tax Department has settled over 170 tax enquiry cases on behalf of clients. Majority of cases settled related to IR35 and other issues arising from Inland Revenue Employer Compliance Reviews.


Arctic Systems S660 Case Lost in the High Court20/04/2005
Arctic Systems S660 case (funded by PCG) lost in the High Court. Case was appealed to the High Court who upheld the controversial decision reached by the Special Commissioners in September of last year. This is a huge blow for small businesses especially for those run by husband and wife.


Shell Fined for Death of Offshore Workers on Brent Bravo28/04/2005
Shell fined £900,000 for failures which led to death of two offshore workers. Shell were declared guilty of 'a substantial catalogue of failures' which led to the deaths of Keith Moncrieff and Sean McCue in September 2003 after being exposed to up to 2.5 tonnes of hydrocarbon vapour which turned into gas on Shell's Brent Bravo platform.


S660 Compliance Reviews Following Recent High Court Ruling10/05/2005
Daily Telegraph headlined recent High Court ruling over the Arctic Systems Section 660 case as 'Court Tax Ruling is a Black Day for Small Businesses'. Further stating that 'Two hundred thousand husband and wife businesses could owe an extra £9,000 in tax as a result of the High Court ruling that backed a Government crackdown on previously accepted tax planning'


BTC Pipeline Gives Caspian Oil Access To World Markets26/05/2005
Inauguration takes place of the 1770-kilometre Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline which will carry one million barrels of oil a day from the BP-operated Azeri Chirag Gunashli (ACG) oilfield in the Caspian Sea to the eastern Mediterranean port of Ceyhan.
