Death Investigated on Brent Bravo Platform08/01/2005
Inquiry launched into death of electrician in the same utility shaft on Brent Bravo where two men were killed 15 months ago. In September 2003, Sean McCue and Keith Moncrieff died after a sudden escape of gas.


Lundin Britain Staff to Lose Jobs in Petrofac Transfer20/01/2005
Oil and gas facilities service Operator, Petrofac, to take over responsibility for management of Thistle and Heather platforms from Lundin Britain. Most of staff at Lundin will transfer to Petrofac, but some will lose their jobs.


Shell Hiring 1000 Engineers21/01/2005
Shell to hire over 1,000 engineers to reinforce its exploration and production operations. Within the 1000 hires, Shell plans to employ 170 experienced petroleum engineers by April on a contract or permanent basis.

This year's Budget focuses on growing economy and long-term strategy. Gordon Brown has stuck to his policies and at the same time appears to have helped those most in need. This may well secure another term in office with the likelihood of an early election being announced. The sleeping giant is the anti-avoidance measures and how these will be adopted over the next few years. Gordon Brown seemed to gloss over these but the detail may well be different.
