AMEC Awarded Forties Contract by Apache North Sea Limited

AMEC AMEC has been selected by Apache North Sea Limited to undertake project management, engineering and procurement for the design and implementation of brownfield modifications to the Forties Alpha platform.

The modifications will facilitate the connection of Apache's new bridge-linked Satellite Platform (FASP) to the existing Forties Alpha platform, located in the central North Sea some 178 kilometres (110 miles) north east of Aberdeen.

The two-year multimillion pound award continues the ongoing relationship between Apache and AMEC. Over the last five years AMEC has provided a number of brownfield modification services including electrical infrastructure switchboard upgrades, a deep gas lift project and field well completions across their Forties field platforms.

"The North Sea remains an important region for UK energy production and for AMEC," said John Pearson, Managing Director of AMEC's Europe & West Africa business. "This latest contract award from Apache reinforces our good relationship with them and demonstrates our excellent project performance and the strength of our core capabilities."

Mark Richardson, Project Director for Apache North Sea Limited said:

"The nature and complexity of delivering the modifications and interfaces from the greenfield satellite platform to the brownfield of Forties Alpha required a contractor with the right resources, in the right place, ready to act immediately. AMEC's track record, knowledge and experience in Forties made them the right choice to take on the challenge of these works. I am confident that they will deliver the required product to the right standard, at the right pace with safety and efficiency."

The Apache brownfield contracts are executed from AMEC's Aberdeen oil and gas headquarters in Aberdeen.
