Jacobs Receives British Nuclear Group Framework Contract
Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has received a Multi-Disciplinary Design House (MDDH) framework contract from British Nuclear Group Sellafield Ltd (BNGSL) following a successful rebidding process.
Sellafield is the U.K.'s largest nuclear reservation, where spent nuclear fuel is reprocessed and recovered nuclear material is developed into new nuclear fuel. The site is undergoing a concurrent cleanup of legacy wastes and facilities shutdown. Now owned by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), the facility employs more than 12,000 people and is managed by BNGSL.
Jacobs' new contract is for 2 years but can be extended an additional 1 to 2 years. It is a follow on to its existing MDDH contract for design services at Sellafield and will see the company deliver a range of design and engineering services at sites in Sellafield, Calder Hall, Drigg, and Capenhurst.
Supported by a number of key supply partners including Nukem, Serco Assurance, and Doosan-Babcock, Jacobs will continue to use and support the extensive local supply chain in the Cumbria area that they developed during the previous MDDH contract.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Phil Stassi stated, "We are delighted to reinforce the already strong relationship with our colleagues at Sellafield by securing this new contract. This is a tremendous vote of confidence in our team's previous work and I'm confident in our ability to offer BNGSL a full range of services and life cycle solutions capability."
