Jacobs Receives Contracts for Clean Fuel Project from Total

Jacobs LogoJacobs Engineering Group have received two separate contracts from Total France to provide basic and detailed engineering and procurement for a clean fuel facility on Total's site at Immingham, North Lincolnshire, United Kingdom. The project is essential to the refinery's capability to generate low-sulfur fuels for the diesel market.

Contract values were not disclosed; however, officials noted that the total investment cost is approximately euro 300 million (US$ 409 million). The project is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2009.

One contract is for the process portion (Inside Battery Limits, or ISBL) of the project. The second contract is for the offsites/utilities portion (Outside Battery Limits, or OSBL). The ISBL scope, which is currently in the early detailed engineering and procurement stage, is being executed by Jacobs in Leiden, The Netherlands. The sulfur recovery unit (which uses Jacobs' proprietary SUPERCLAUS(R) technology) and sour water treatment units, in particular, provide maximum environmental benefit. Jacobs' Manchester, United Kingdom, office is currently executing basic design and engineering of the OSBL scope.

These two lead offices are supported by Jacobs' process specialists in Marble Arch, United Kingdom, and Porvoo, Finland; and by Jacobs' multidisciplinary resources in Mumbai, India.

Total is the world's fourth-largest oil and gas producer. The Immingham site is one of their major refining centers in Europe.
