Wood Group Engineering (North Sea) Awarded Shell Contract

Wood GroupWood Group Engineering (North Sea) Ltd, part of John Wood Group PLC ("Wood Group"), has been appointed by Shell U.K. Limited ("Shell") to provide engineering design, maintenance, support and construction management services (EMSC) to Shell's onshore installations at St Fergus Gas Plant, Fife Natural Gas & Liquids Plant at Mossmorran, and Fife Braefoot Bay Loading Terminal plus offshore support for the Goldeneye platform. The onshore facilities process Natural Gas Liquids coming from offshore facilities into higher value components such as Ethane, Propane and Butane.

Last week, Shell announced the commencement of a £350 million Rejuvenation Project that will extend the life of three of their onshore installations (the St. Fergus Gas to Liquids Plant, Fife Natural Gas and Liquids Plant, and Braefoot Bay Loading Terminal) to the year 2021 and will sustain feedstock supply to the Fife Ethylene Plant.

The five-year Wood Group contract with two two-year extensions, will secure employment for more than 400 Wood Group employees and sub-contractors at Shell's three onshore sites and Wood Group's offices in Aberdeen and Glasgow.

"We look forward to working together to maintain the successful relationship of the past, and to support the future high levels of engineering and resourcing needs. Our new Glasgow office, now with over 250 engineering personnel, is well positioned to carry out the design work and we have plans in place to establish local apprenticeship schemes to support future skill needs."

This latest contract award positions Wood Group as the UK's leading oil & gas terminal service contractor, with the Group working on nine major onshore facilities in Teesside, Dorset, Sullom Voe, Flotta, Nigg, St Fergus and Fife.

Wood Group Engineering (North Sea) is an international contracting organisation providing technically and commercially innovative solutions for the management, operations, maintenance, engineering, design, modification and decommissioning of offshore and onshore oil & gas facilities. Wood Group is also a partner of Sigma 3, a joint venture company set up in 2002 by three oil service companies to support £750 million of work for Shell in the North Sea.
