Techint & Costain Win N2 Rejection Project for Pemex
Pemex has awarded a US$150 Million, lump sum EPC contract to Techint S.A. DE C.A, Mexico City and their Technology Supplier, Costain Oil, Gas & Process Ltd, Manchester, England, a subsidiary of Costain Group PLC.
The project is a 630 MM SCFD Nitrogen Rejection project, to be installed at Pemex's Ciudad Pemex Gas Plant, Tabasco, Mexico. This facility will be the world's largest Nitrogen Rejection Project and is designed to process Nitrogen-rich natural gas that results from using Nitrogen for Enhanced Oil Recovery. Breakthrough of Nitrogen into the associated gas is causing the Nitrogen level in the Pemex sales gas to gradually increase. This new facility will reject this Nitrogen to maintain sales gas quality for Pemex.
The plant will use Costain's proprietary cryogenic process for Nitrogen Rejection. Costain will provide process engineering for the overall facility and will supply the NRU Islands comprising the core gas separation equipment. Techint, as main contractor, will provide detail engineering and will supply the rest of the equipment including the complete Gas Turbine / Compressors and will also construct the complete facility.
Charles Sweeney, Managing Director of Costain Oil, Gas & Process Ltd said "Costain is pleased to be working with Techint on this key Nitrogen Rejection Project in Mexico. It follows similar projects supplied by Costain to ENI in Pakistan, BG in Tunisia and to E.ON in the United Kingdom".
