Vetco Gray Win Five-year Frame Agreement With EnCana

Vetco Gray in Aberdeen has been awarded a five-year frame agreement by EnCana to provide subsea wellheads, subsea trees and production controls. The project includes the supply of workover controls, and Vetco Gray's proprietary well-intervention test system on the Canadian oil and gas operator's Buzzard field in the North Sea. Complete field service and installation support is also included in the award.

The contract value has not been disclosed, but a company spokesman said the contract would contribute to job security at both Scottish bases. Earlier this month, Vetco Gray announced the loss of up to 95 jobs at its Nailsea office in Bristol, the company's headquarters.

In July, Vetco Gray won a three year deal worth £68m from Cabinda Gulf Oil, a subsidiary of ChevronTexaco. It covered the supply of subsea trees, manifolds, and subsea and surface control systems for a project offshore Angola, and provision of a team to maintain the systems.

Vetco Gray employs approximately 4,500 people at 60 locations in over 30 countries, including about 550 in Aberdeen and 250 at Montrose.
