EPIC Win for Underwater Contractor Subsea 7

Underwater contractor Subsea 7 has won a major contract award for the development of the Chinguetti field, which will be the first oil and gas development offshore Mauritania, west Africa.

Aberdeen-based Subsea 7's work will include the transport and installation of three subsea manifolds including installation of production flowlines and risers plus water and gas-injection flowlines and risers.

The EPIC contract for Australian-owned Woodside Mauritania is valued in the region of £78m and is Subsea 7's first major deepwater project in west Africa.

The contract will involve the use of Subsea 7's multi-purpose support vessel Toisa Perseus and a heavy-lift vessel for transportation of the flexible flowlines and risers. The offshore works are scheduled to take place in the installation season next year.
