Marathon Awards Subsea Frame Agreement to Aker Kvaerner
KOP, part of Aker Kvaerner engineering and construction services group, has won a £20m contract to provide a range of equipment and services to Marathon Petroleum.
Subsea production equipment includes side valve trees, protection structures, and production control systems for 11 wells. This first phase in the European Framework Agreement should assist in securing the employment of the 550 staff at KOP in Aberdeen.
The Alvheim Project will draw on KOP resources from both Aberdeen and Norway, with a total of 40 people being utilized during the execution phase.
The first delivery will be to Marathon's Alvheim project in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, subject to approval by field partners Lundin and ConocoPhillips and approval of the field development plan by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
Located off the coast of Norway, the Alvheim project is part of the PL203 development that includes Kameleon, Boa, Kneler and East Kameleon.
