KBR Wins BP Angola Contract

KBR Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR) has been awarded the contract to provide Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management Services for BP's Greater Plutonio fields located in Block 18 offshore Angola. The services are for the floating production storage and off-loading (FPSO) vessel and the associated subsea systems.

The work will be carried out in KBR's Leatherhead office and various other world-wide locations. The scope includes detailed engineering and procurement services for the topsides of the FPSO, together with project management, subsea engineering management, project services and construction management support for the overall development working in an integrated team with BP. The work is expected to be completed in 2007.

Block 18 is located between 50 and 150km offshore and covers an area of 4,880km2, the equivalent of more than 200 leases in the Gulf of Mexico. Water depths range from 500m in the east to in excess of 1,600m in the west.

The concept selected for Greater Plutonio consists of a spread-moored FPSO vessel with subsea production, gas injection and water injection wells.
