Petrofac take over responsibility for management of Kittiwake
Petrofac Facilities Management has officially taken over responsibility for management of Venture Production PLC's Kittiwake facility in the Central North Sea. The agreement, which came into force on November 26, 2003, follows the successful transfer of peratorship to Venture Production from the previous operator, Shell UK Exploration and Production.
Kittiwake is the first manned offshore installation in the North Sea to be divested by Shell. The deal includes the Mallard oilfield - a subsea development that is tied-back to the Kittiwake platform. Also included are the Goosander, Grouse and Gadwall oilfields that have yet to be developed. Petrofac will be responsible for managing the safe and effective operation of the Kittiwake production platform and oil loading facility that are located some 100 miles to the east of Aberdeen.
The operatorship transfer is Petrofac's fourth UKCS Facilities Management agreement. As well as managing the production facilities for the ChevronTexaco Galley field for the past five years, Petrofac completed the transition of the Paladin-owned Montrose, Arbroath and Arkwright fields and assumed responsibility for these facilities in May 2003. More recently in October 2003, Petrofac took over management of the six gas-producing installations in the Hewett Field, 25 miles east of Great Yarmouth, and the associated onshore Bacton Terminal in Norfolk.
