KBR win Chevron Texaco contract
ChevronTexaco Upstream Europe recently awarded a five-year, £150 million contract to KBR's Production Services group for the provision of operations and maintenance crews, as well as construction and engineering services, for its Alba, Captain and Erskine Fields in the U.K. North Sea.
It is believed the work will be carried out from the KBR Aberdeen office.
Alba (block 16/26) is a heavy oil field 130 miles from Aberdeen, Scotland. Facilities in the field are the Alba Northern Platform and a floating storage unit (FSU). Oil export from the field is by shuttle tanker from the FSU.
Captain (block 13/22a) is a heavy oil field 68 miles from Aberdeen. Facilities in the field are a wellhead protector platform (WPP), with additional processing on a bridge-linked platform (BLP) and a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. Oil export is by shuttle tanker from the FPSO with a small quantity of gas exported by pipeline to St. Fergus.
Erskine (block 23/26b) is a high pressure/high temperature field producing gas and condensate, which is exported via the Lomond platform. The field facility is normally an unattended platform, remotely operated from Lomond and attended by an onshore-based intervention team, as required.
KBR and ChevronTexaco will be working closely with the outgoing service providers to ensure that the transition to the new contract is managed safely and with the full involvement of the workforce. This process is expected to be complete by the end of 2003.
