AMEC Granted Consent for Lynn Offshore Wind Farm

AMECAMEC, the international engineering services company, has announced that it has received consent to build, operate and eventually decommission the 30 turbine Lynn wind farm in the North Sea, up to eight kilometres off the east coast resort town of Skegness, Linclonshire.

Discussions with potential funders for the £90 million project are well advanced and it is anticipated that construction work will begin during 2004 with turbine operations starting early in 2005.

The 30 turbines will eventually provide enough electricity for over 54,000 households.

Onshore, from 2004 onwards, including schemes under development with partners, AMEC anticipates bringing about 200 MW onto the market each year, providing sufficient electricity for over 200,000 households while offshore, the company’s established position allows it to take advantage of emerging opportunities in both project investment and construction and operational services.
