Subsea 7 win West African Contract

Subsea 7 has received its first major contract in West Africa, valued at approximately $19 million. The contract was awarded by Technip Offshore U.K. Ltd., which is contracted by Canadian Natural Resources International (Cote d'Ivoire) SARL, for the subsea umbilical riser and flowline installation workscope in the Baobab Field offshore Africa.

The Subsea 7 workscope is for the installation of two rigid flowlines, one of which is a 15.5 kilometer, 6 inch gas export line between Baobab and the Espoir floating production, storage and offloading vessel. The other is an 8 kilometer, 12 inch water injection line. Both lines are fabricated in the U.K., where they will be spooled onto Subsea 7's rigid pipelay vessel, transported to and installed in the field.

The work will begin in the fourth quarter of 2004, in water depths ranging from 960 meters to 1,160 meters, and will utilize two Subsea 7 vessels, Skandi Navica and Seisranger. Skandi Navica will perform flowline installation operations, while Seisranger will perform the complete survey work, in support of both Subsea 7 and Technip operations.
