ConocoPhillips to Cut More Jobs Than Forecast
ConocoPhillips expects to cut 200 more jobs than previously forecast. The company disclosed the new target for job cuts in a first-quarter earnings report filed the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Worldwide, ConocoPhillips had expected to cut around 2900 jobs as it continues to reorganise its business units following the recent merger. However, this number has risen to 3100. To date more than 1900 employees have been made redundant, with over a thousand going in the first quarter of 2003. The company employs approximately 57,000 people worldwide, with the majority located in the United States.
