Glaxo Jobs Fears
700 jobs are thought to be at risk following a proposed deal to buy the GlaxoSmithKline plant in Montrose falls through.
Akzo Nobel, the Dutch Chemical Giant, was planning to buy the factory but has pulled out. The poor current economic conditions in the pharmaceutical sector were cited as the reason for the deal not going ahead.
The factory, located on the Scottish east coast, produces ingredients for a variety of products, including treatments for respiratory problems, skin conditions, infectious diseases, cardiovascular complaints and cancer.
