Transco Awards Major Pipeline Contract
Gas pipeline operator Transco has awarded a major contract to Entrepose as part of a £50m project to construct a new high-pressure gas pipeline in the north east of Scotland. The pipeline forms part of Transco's ongoing investment programme for the UK's gas transmission system and will help meet the increased demand for gas in Scotland, England and Wales.
At its peak the project is expected to employ around 450 people.
Pipeline specialists Entrepose will be responsible for planning, designing and constructing the 50 km long 1220 mm diameter pipeline that will run from Garlogie, to the west of Aberdeen, to Lochside near Montrose. The project also includes a large-scale reinstatement programme once construction work is complete. The pipeline will cross 25 roads, 4 rivers and 1 railway line and pass Peterculter, Stonehaven, Drumlithie and Arbuthnott before ending at Lochside.
Pipeline route planning and negotiations with landowners will commence in the spring of 2003 with pipeline construction work taking place between April and October 2004.
