Shell Expro not pulling out of Aberdeen
Shell Expro has again dismissed rumours it is set to leave Aberdeen. A spokeswoman for the oil and gas company has been reported as saying: "We are not pulling out."
Of Shell Expro's 2,400 UK onshore and offshore employees, 1,800 of them work out of Aberdeen.
The company has been gradually reducing its workforce in the city over the last 10 years, but there are no plans to step up this process, said the spokeswoman. She said a feasibility study being carried out by Shell had been misinterpreted by some people. She said the objective was to find best working practices, and was not about cutting jobs or moving out of Aberdeen.
Shell Expro has been participating in the study with its sister operating units in Norway (Norske Shell) and the Netherlands (NAM) to look at their structure and operations in the North Sea and review possible alternative business models.
