KBR secures new BHP Billiton contract

KBR's Production Services team, based in Aberdeen, has been awarded a three-year contract for the provision of engineering support services to BHP Billiton's Liverpool Bay asset.

ContractorsUnlimited have not been advised of the contract value.

KBR Production Services has been involved with BHP Billiton at Liverpool Bay, U.K., since 1997 and won the contract in a competitive tendering process that followed a one-year extension to provide services, including engineering and design support, in 2001.

KBR will set up a "local" team based at nearby Heysham, with the core technical support team operating from Aberdeen. The Heysham facility offers lower costs and better access to engineering services in the area for BHP Billiton employees. In addition, KBR will also maintain a presence in Liverpool Bay via a project manager who will coordinate activities between sites in support of its assets, which include five offshore installations and one onshore terminal.
