KBR London wins FEED for Prirazlomnoye Field
KBR (better known as Kellogg Brown & Root) has won the concept definition and front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the conversion of the Hutton Tension Leg Platform facilities for the Prirazlomnoye Field in the Former Soviet Union.
Contractors Unlimited understands the work will be carried out from KBR offices in London, and will last approximately six months.
The scope of the concept definition and FEED is to define the conversion work required to meet the topside facilities application in its new location in the Pechora Sea. The use of the Hutton facilities for the Prirazlomnoye Field will be limited to the refurbishment and refitting of the topsides deck.
The Tension Leg Platform (TLP) was towed to Murmansk during October 2002. In Murmansk the topside facilities will be removed from the hull. Then the topsides will be transported on a barge to Sevmash's fabrication yard at Severodvinsk, where it will be stored on a temporary support system during refurbishment. After completion of the refurbishment, the topsides will be back-loaded onto a transportation barge before it is installed onto the caisson structure inshore. The entire platform will then be towed and positioned in the Prirazlomnoye Field some 1,200 kilometers northeast of Arkhangelsk in the Pechora Sea.
