CB&I Announces Technology Award for PDH Plant in China

CB&I announced today that Lummus Technology, a CB&I company, has been awarded a contract by Tianjin Bohua Petrochemical Company Limited for the license and engineering design of a grassroots propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit to be built in Tianjin, China. It will be the first PDH plant in China; and upon start-up in 2012, it will be the largest operating PDH plant in the world.
The unit will use the CATOFIN® dehydrogenation process to produce 600,000 metric tonnes per annum of propylene. Propylene is a building block used to produce a variety of products including plastics and solvents.
