Super Puma Helicopter Crashes Into North Sea
A search is underway for passengers aboard a Bond operated Super Puma helicopter which has crashed into the North Sea 35 miles east of Aberdeen in Scotland. It is understood that there are 16 people on board. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said the incident took place just before 1400h today.
The rescue operation includes two RAF rescue helicopters and an RAF Nimrod, plus two lifeboats. RNLI lifeboats from Peterhead and Fraserburgh are heading to the area now.
This crash comes just six weeks after a helicopter with 18 people on board
ditched in the Etap field 125 miles east of Aberdeen. All on board were rescued successfully.
