Eighty Redundancies at Schlumberger

Schlumberger, the giant oil and gas service company, has confirmed 80 job loses in the UK, most of the redundancies will be in the north-east of Scotland.

Spokesperson for Schlumberger, Gen Herga said: "Reducing staff numbers and reviewing future staffing requirements has unfortunately become a necessity in today's challenging economic climate.

"Eighty positions are being eliminated in the UK North Sea area as a result of reduced activity in the oilfield services sector."
