CB&I Awarded Second Nuclear Power Project

CB&ampI CB&I has been awarded a second engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction contract, valued in excess of $150 million, by Westinghouse Electric Company to build the containment vessels for a nuclear power plant expansion in the southeastern U.S.

The two containment vessels will house the next generation Westinghouse AP1000™ nuclear reactors, each with a capacity of 1,117 megawatts. Each containment vessel is about 120 feet in diameter and 215 feet high. The design phase will commence immediately and fabrication will begin in 2009. The first vessel is scheduled for completion in 2015 and the second in 2018.

As announced in October, CB&I is also contracted by Westinghouse to build the containment vessels for another nuclear power plant expansion in the southeastern U.S.

CB&I has built 75% of the containment vessels for nuclear plants currently operating in the U.S.
