Jacobs Receives Framework Contract From Magnox Electric
Jacobs Engineering Group has received a 2-year contract to provide a wide range of project delivery services to Magnox Electric's reactor sites located throughout the United Kingdom (UK).
Magnox Electric holds contracts with the UK Nuclear Decommissioning Authority for the management, operation, and decommissioning of ten of the UK's Magnox Reactor sites, at a budgeted cost of approximately $1 billion annually.
Under this framework contract, Jacobs will deliver a variety of services including project management, project support (including cost engineering, project controls, and P3e planning), multidiscipline engineering, waste management strategy and planning, environmental management (including contaminated land management and environmental impact assessments), and commercial resources to support the Magnox decommissioning program.
The contract addresses eight of the defuelling/decommissioning Magnox reactors (it excludes Calder Hall) and the two operating Magnox reactor sites; and covers a broad range of skills and services to be provided through a mixture of short- and long-term secondments, fixed price packages, and target performance incentive arrangements.
Magnox Electric Managing Director Mark Morant said, "We are delighted to have Jacobs supporting us. They provide high calibre resources and expertise. They also bring a passion for safety and knowledge of best practice project delivery processes and tools, which add real value."
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Phil Stassi said, "We are pleased to have been awarded this contract with Magnox Electric and we look forward to continuing our support for these challenging decommissioning and clean-up projects."
