AMEC Wins Clean-Air System Contract
AMEC has announced that US power generator Southern Company has awarded it a contract to install new clean-air systems on two 865-megawatt coal-fired boilers in Georgia.
The contract will see AMEC construct a new scrubber system designed to remove sulfur dioxide from the existing coal-fired boilers' emissions.
"AMEC has a long history in Georgia," said Tim Gelbar, President of AMEC's Industrial unit, headquartered in Atlanta and a part of AMEC's Power and Process division. "Projects like this one highlight the growth we're seeing in our industry and the potential for our operations to grow along with it."
Southern Company is a long-term AMEC client with current projects including a civil contract for and a dewatering system both of which are located in Georgia.
Completion is scheduled for May 2009; however, AMEC will remain on site to support Southern Company during system startup and commissioning.
