AMEC Wins Second Petrochina Dushanzi Contract

AMEC logoAMEC has been appointed by Petrochina Dushanzi Petrochemical Company as the Integrated Project Management Team (IPMT) contractor for the management of safety, health and environmental and quality assurance and control on the Dushanzi Refinery and Ethylene Technical Reformation project, western China.

The multi-million dollar contract begins immediately and will run for two years.

This is AMEC's second major contract on the US$3.5 billion petrochemical expansion project located in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region. The company was appointed in August 2005 to provide project management, engineering, planning, cost management, safety, health and environment, quality assurance and other related consultancy service together with its proprietary project management software, Convero.

"The Dushanzi contracts reinforce our position as a growing services provider in China, where we have worked for more than 70 years," said Tony Cruddas, President - Growth Regions, AMEC Natural Resources. "China's oil, gas and petrochemicals production is having to keep pace with the country's rapid industrial and economic growth and we are delighted that our project management, safety and technical expertise has a role to play."

In addition to the Dushanzi projects, AMEC 's recent oil and gas and petrochemical work in China has included:

•  Project management and related contracts for the US$ 500 million Outside
   Battery Limits (OSBL) complex at the SECCO Ethylene plant, Shanghai

•  Field engineering procurement and construction management services for Bayer
   Polymers (Shanghai) Company Limited for services at their polycarbonates plant
   at Caojing near Shanghai

•  Development of a US$1.6bn grassroots refinery in Qinzhou in the Guangxi and
   Zhuang Autonomous Region, south-western China

•  Project Management on a US$1.5 billion coal-to-chemical production complex for
   the Shenhua Ningxia Coal Group (SNCG) in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region
   in north west China

•  Initial engineering design for the offsite and utility facilities on a US$1.5 billion
   coal-to-chemical production complex for the Shenhua Ningxia Coal Group (SNCG)
   in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in north west China.
