Mott MacDonald Supports THINK Charter

MottMacDonald LogoMott MacDonald is to support THINK, 1-3 May at the ExCel Centre in London. THINK brings together leaders and practitioners working in the built environment to look at ways the industry and other key stakeholders such as Government can help to alleviate climate change. The built environment accounts for around 50% of the UK's carbon dioxide emissions.

Kevin Stovell, a director on Mott MacDonald's Group board, will be joining a panel of senior business leaders from across the built environment value chain to help develop a ten point action plan - The THINK Charter - to be presented to a senior minister on 1st May. He will also be contributing as a member of the plenary panel for THINK on the 3rd May, reporting on the Business Leaders' Summit.

Kevin said, "We're supporting The THINK Charter because as a responsible corporate citizen, employer and consultant, we take sustainability very seriously and it is integrated into our culture through our values, projects and practices. THINK is an excellent way to share best practice and help further inspire the adoption of new behaviours and technology which will move the sustainability agenda forward and indeed help business take its part in reducing its contribution to climate change."

He continued, "From our perspective, contributing to the agenda is wholly appropriate as we are engineers and technical advisors on major urban property and infrastructure programmes. In addition, our cost consultancy Franklin + Andrews is at the forefront in helping our clients understand the benefits of whole-life cycle costs of developments and that adopting a sustainable approach is not necessarily more expensive."

On the 3rd May, Mott MacDonald's, Energy Director, Simon Harrison will be chairing debates on power in relation to climate change. Experts from the company's building, cost consultancy, power and environmental teams will also be attending during the course of the three-day event.
