Technip Awarded Contract for Byaco Acetic Acid Plant in China

Technip LogoTechnip has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services contract by BP-YPC Acetyls Co. (Nanjing) Ltd. (BYACO), the 50/50 joint venture between BP and Sinopec/YPC, for an acetic acid* plant located in Nanjing, Jiangsu province (China).

This plant will have a capacity of 500,000 tons per year of acetic acid and will be based on BP's world leading Cativa® technology.

Technip's operations and engineering centre in Rome (Italy), with the support of the center in Shanghai (China), will execute the contract in a team integrated with the client.

This contract comes after the front-end engineering design (FEED) contract completed by Technip in 2006 for the same plant.

The plant is expected to come on stream in the first half of 2009.

* Acetic acid: an organic acid used as a chemical reagent or solvent in numerous industrial applications such as paints, glues, inks, polyester plastics and pharmaceutical products.
