Shaw Ethylene Technology Selected for New Grassroots Plant
The Shaw Group's Shaw Stone & Webster business unit's technology has been selected for a new grassroots ethylene plant by Liaoning Huajin Chemicals Corporation (LHC). The planned plant capacity is 450,000 metric tons of ethylene annually and will be constructed as part of a major expansion to LHC's existing petrochemical facility in Panjin City, Liaoning Province, China.
Under this contract, Shaw will provide the process design package, including related engineering and detailed design services for key components. Together with the engineering package, Shaw will also
supply its proprietary equipment, technical services and training to the client during the execution of the project. The value of Shaw's contract was not disclosed.
J.M. Bernhard, Jr., Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Shaw, said, "We are proud that our technology has been the source of over three million tons of ethylene production capacity in
China. For 30 years we have made significant contributions to many major Chinese olefin producers including our recently completed, highly successful ethylene projects for BASF-YPC in Nanjing and CSPC
in Nanhai. With the demand for ethylene in China expected to double in the next decade, we look forward to additional significant opportunities to provide technology and EPC expertise. We congratulate
LHC for selecting our technology, which brings with it a global reputation for exceptional operational reliability, rapid startup, and
superior performance."
