Jacobs Receives Sulfur Recovery and Hydrotreater Projects from BP
Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has received two major engineering, procurement, and fabrication packages from BP Products North America Inc. for its planned $3 billion Canadian Heavy Crude Refinery Upgrade program in Whiting, Ind., USA.
The scope of work for one package includes licensing, design, and fabrication of Sulfur Recovery Facilities. For this effort, Jacobs expands the services provided to BP from traditional engineering and procurement to technology licensing through Jacobs Comprimo Sulfur Solutions(R) in Leiden, the Netherlands, and modular fabrication through their facility in Charleston, S.C. Jacobs manages this project from their execution center in Baton Rouge, La.
The project scope for the second package includes the revamp of several hydroprocessing units, which Jacobs executes from their Houston, Texas, location.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Peter Evans stated, "We are pleased about the opportunity to provide BP with a broad spectrum of proven resources to execute engineering and fabrication for these two units within one of the largest refineries in North America."
