Technip Awarded Contract for URSA and Princess Fields
Technip has been awarded a contract by Shell for the installation of the water injection flowlines(1) and the risers(2) for the development of the Ursa and Princess fields. These fields are located in the Gulf of Mexico, about 140 miles southeast of New Orleans (Louisiana).
This project consists in the tie-back of four subsea water injection wells to the Ursa platform, anchored in the Mississippi Canyon block at a water depth of approximately 3,780 feet.
The contract covers project management, engineering, fabrication and installation of flowlines and steel catenary risers, and installation of pipeline end terminations (PLET).
Technip's operations and engineering center in Houston (Texas) will execute the contract. Assembling of the pipe stalks will take place at Technip's spoolbase located in Mobile (Alabama). The Deep Blue, Technip's deepwater pipelay vessel, will deploy the pipelines on the ocean floor using the reel lay method, thus achieving high productivity pipe lay rates in excess of 1 kilometer per hour.
Offshore installation is scheduled for the fourth quarter 2007.
