Jacobs Receives Contract for Advanced Manufacturing Project
Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has received a contract from Teijin Twaron B.V. (TT) to provide engineering, procurement, and construction management services as part of the "NIKKO Project" being implemented at TT's existing site in Emmen, The Netherlands. Teijin Twaron supplies customers with a broad portfolio of aramid high performance fibers.
The Emmen facility is scheduled for completion in 2008.
Jacobs will develop a new spinning facility to turn base polymer materials into TT's synthetic aramid fiber, called Twaron(R). The NIKKO project also includes a new feedstock facility, which is being developed by another contractor in nearby Delfzijl to supply the Emmen manufacturing facility.
Jacobs will execute the work from its office in Leiden, The Netherlands.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Andy Kremer stated, "Teijin Twaron is a new client for Jacobs and the NIKKO project is a challenging assignment for our advanced manufacturing business unit. We're pleased that they selected us to help advance their market leadership by expanding local capacity to meet global market demand."
