BP Delay Investment in Peterhead Power Project

BP LogoFollowing the Government's recent Energy Review and the issues of carbon capture and storage (CCS) discussed in the Chancellor's Pre Budget Report in December, BP is delaying investment in the Peterhead Power Plant project.

BP said that it awaits an announcement from the Government on whether it will provide government support for the £500m+ UK carbon capture power plant and cause a delay of at least a year to the planned 2010 completion date.

It was expected that at least 1000 jobs would be created during the design and construction phases if the project is given the go-ahead.
