| UK Action Plan to Unlock Potential for Renewable Energy in Biomass | 03/05/2006 |
Action plan to unlock potential for renewable energy in biomass published by UK Government. Plan accepts that energy from crops, trees and waste can make a strong contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and sets out 12 key ways to make this happen. Measures include a capital grant scheme for biomass boilers and establishment of a new Biomass Energy Centre to provide expert information and advice.  |
| Gazprom and BASF AG Sign Agreement on Assets Exchange | 03/05/2006 |
Chairman of Gazprom's Management Committee and Jurgen Hambrecht, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, BASF AG, signs Agreement on assets exchange in gas production and natural gas trade. According to the Agreement, Gazprom will increase its part in the Russian-German joint venture Wingas GmbH up to 50% minus one share. Besides, Gazprom will get its share in the capital of one of Wintershall AG group companies owing shares in geological and production assets in Lybia.  |
| Gazprom and Kurgan Region Sign Cooperation Agreement | 03/05/2006 |
Alexey Miller, Chairman of Gazprom's Management Committee and Oleg Bogomolov, Governor of the Kurgan Region sign Agreement on cooperation and synchronised construction schedule for regional gasification facilities. In accordance with the schedule, the Kurgan Region will see a complex of works aimed at preparing consumers for gas supply by projected Gazprom pipelines currently under sweeping construction as stipulated by the gasification program for RF regions over 2005 to 2007.  |
| KBR Completes Agreement to Sell Production Services Group | 04/05/2006 |
KBR completes agreement announced in March 2006 to sell the Production Services group, part of the company's Energy and Chemicals division. KBR is the engineering, construction and services subsidiary of Halliburton. Based in Aberdeen, the Production Services group delivers a range of support services to oil and gas exploration and production customers and has been in operation for over 25 years. The group now operates under the name Production Services Network (PSN).  |

| Mott MacDonald and QualityTonnes Team Up on CDM Projects | 05/05/2006 |
Mott MacDonald and QualityTonnes, CDM project developers, to work together to develop greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction projects around the world for sale in international carbon market. The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol allows projects that reduce GHG emissions in developing countries many of which have GHG emission targets under the Kyoto regime and European Trading System to generate credits and be sold to international buyers. Mott MacDonald and QualityTonnes will work together to develop and certify CDM projects for sale to such buyers.  |

BP announces its intention to market for sale its exploration and production (E&P) and gas infrastructure business in the Netherlands, comprising its onshore and offshore production assets and its Piek Gas Installatie (PGI) at Alkmaar. The business will be offered as an ongoing, fully staffed operation and BP does not expect any redundancies as a result of the sale.  |

Talisman Energy Inc. say it is unlikely to pursue expansion into new exploration areas because of a shortage of available staff and equipment. "There are no rigs available anywhere, while supplies of drilling engineers and sub-surface people are tight," Talisman Chief Executive James Buckee told a press conference.  |

Repsol YPF denies receiving any indication from the Argentine government that it is supposedly acquiring 51% of YPF's capital. This news also denied by Argentine Planning Minister, Julio De Vido, who strongly stated that there does not exist any such plan on the part of the Administration of Nestor Kirchner.  |

Sibneft shareholders vote to change company's name to Gazprom Neft and to move its registered corporate address from Omsk to Saint Petersburg. The name change is part of a process that began last autumn with Gazprom's acquisition of more than 75% of Sibneft's outstanding shares.  |

Marathon Oil Corporation enters into definitive agreement with OAO LUKOIL, acting through its subsidiary OOO LUKOIL Western Siberia, under which Marathon will sell its oil exploration and production businesses in the Khanty Mansiysk Region of Western Siberia to LUKOIL.  |
| Kazakhstan PM Signs BTC Pipeline Deal | 17/05/2006 |
Daniyal Akhmetov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, to sign deal in June that will see its oil output flow into the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline. He told a Cabinet meeting an agreement on joining the BTC was currently being examined by lawyers and was expected to be signed by the Kazakh and Azerbaijani Presidents at a summit next month.  |
| Government States Gas Storage Matter of National Energy Security | 17/05/2006 |
Economic case for speeding up planning decisions on new gas import and storage facilities set out by U.K. Trade and Industry Secretary Alistair Darling. With the UK becoming increasingly dependent on imported gas and concerns growing about delays to vital new facilities, Mr Darling laid new 'Statement of Need' in Parliament encouraging planning professionals and local decision makers to consider national interest when looking at planning applications.  |
| Petrofac Increases Investment in UK North Sea Interest | 17/05/2006 |
Petrofac's Resources division increases its interest in Block 9/28a Part B (containing the Crawford Field, recently known as Cragganmore) from 5.58% to 29% and becomes operator of field. Petrofac Resources acquired 55.3% operated interest of Tuscan Energy (Cragganmore) Limited (Tuscan) and agreed to sell, on same terms and conditions, part of acquired interest to other existing partners, Fairfield Acer Limited (Fairfield) and Stratic Energy (UK) Ltd (Stratic).  |

| Massive Explosion at Chemical Plant | 01/06/2006 |
Fire caused by massive explosion at chemical plant now under control.
Blast happened at Terra Nitrogen UK site in Billingham, Teesside and caused fire involving mixed gases. The police declared a major emergency. Firefighters and ambulance crews were called to scene and by 02.45 the blaze had been extinguised. Two people working at the site sustained minor injuries.  |

Scottish and Southern Energy enters into agreement with I&H Brown Ltd to acquire two wind farm developments, comprising 98MW of capacity, subject to necessary planning consent and electricity network capacity being secured. The sites are at Toddleburn (36MW) in the Scottish Borders and Calliacher (62MW) in Perth and Kinross.  |
| Chevron Forms New Biofuels Business Unit | 01/06/2006 |
Chevron Corporation forms biofuels business unit to advance technology and pursue commercial opportunities related to production and distribution of ethanol and biodiesel in the United States. Chevron officially announced the business unit yesterday in Galveston, Texas, where the company participating in groundbreaking ceremony to inaugurate construction of one of the first large-scale biodiesel plants in the U.S.  |
| Mott MacDonald Acquires Irish Engineering Consultancy Pettit | 02/06/2006 |
Mott MacDonald's business in Ireland acquires Dublin and Cork based engineering consultancy Pettit. To be known as Mott MacDonald Pettit, the new company will form one of the largest engineering consultancies in Ireland with combined resources of around 300 staff and additional offices in Killarney, Waterford and Carlow.  |
| Nexen Completes Acquisition of UK Energy Marketing Business | 02/06/2006 |
Nexen Inc. through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Nexen Energy Marketing Europe Limited completes acquisition of Foundation Energy Limited for undisclosed price. Foundation Energy was a privately held UK gas and power marketing company based in London. It will change its name to Nexen Energy Marketing London Limited.  |
| Abbot Group Offer Update for Songa Drilling | 02/06/2006 |
On 8 May 2006, Abbot Group plc, through its wholly owned subsidiary Abbot Holdings Norge AS ("Abbot"), made a recommended offer for Songa Drilling. As at 3.00 p.m. on 1 June 2006, being the end of the Acceptance Period of the Offer, valid acceptances of the Offer had been received in respect of 66,068,887 Songa Drilling Shares (representing approximately 97.6 per cent.).  |
| First gas from Atlantic and Cromarty North Sea Reaches UK | 05/06/2006 |
BG Group and Amerada Hess report first gas flowing from their jointly developed Atlantic and Cromarty fields in Outer Moray Firth to newly expanded ExxonMobil SAGE terminal at St Fergus. Successful completion of this project, which only received DTI sanction in December 2003, is expected to achieve a plateau rate of 220 million standard cubic feet per day.  |
| BP Reports First Ship Loads Oil From New Caspian Pipeline | 07/06/2006 |
BP, operator of the Baku-Tblisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, announced that the first cargo of oil transported through the pipeline from Azerbaijan has been exported from the Ceyhan marine terminal on the Turkish Mediterranean coast. A cargo of around 600,000 barrels of crude oil from Azerbaijan was loaded on to the BP tanker, British Hawthorn, which sailed from the terminal on 4 June.  |
| Wood Group Acquires Algerian Company SOMIAS Spa | 07/06/2006 |
Subsidiary of John Wood Group PLC ("Wood Group") acquires SOMIAS Spa, a maintenance and fabrication support provider serving the Algerian oil & gas and petrochemical industries. Wood Group will hold a 55% share and Groupe Asmidal, an Algerian Group and Somias' current parent, will retain 45% ownership.  |
| Acergy S.A. Charters New Build Heavy Construction Ship | 12/06/2006 |
Acergy S.A. enters into agreement with DOFCON ASA for charter of the Skandi Acergy, a new build heavy construction ship. The 8 year charter will commence upon delivery, which is scheduled for second quarter of 2008. Construction is taking place at Aker Søviknes Yard in Norway and, once complete, the ship will be a class leader amongst heavy construction ships.  |
| BHP Billiton To Develop Shenzi Oil And Gas Field In Gulf Of Mexico | 12/06/2006 |
BHP Billiton announce Shenzi oil and gas field in deepwater Gulf of Mexico approved for development. The Shenzi facility will have a design capacity to produce up to 100,000 barrels of oil and 50 million cubic feet of gas per day. BHP Billiton is the operator of the field and has a 44 per cent interest in the project. The other co-venturers in the project are BP (28 per cent) and Hess Corporation (28 per cent).  |

BG Group signs two Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) with China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) covering deepwater Blocks 64/11 and 53/16 and a Geophysical Survey Agreement for Block 41/06, offshore China.  |
| Babcock Acquires South African High Voltage Transmission Business | 14/06/2006 |
In line with its strategy of developing businesses in South Africa, Babcock International Group announces the acquisition, on a debt free basis, of the high voltage power lines and mobile telecoms business of ABB South Africa (Pty) (Powerlines), for a consideration of £4.5 million, funded from existing banking facilities.  |
| BP Pledges $500 Million for Energy Biosciences Institute and Plans New Business to Exploit Research | 14/06/2006 |
As part of its continuing drive to find longer term commercial alternatives to oil and gas, BP is to fund radical research aimed at probing the emerging secrets of bioscience and applying them to the production of new and cleaner energy, principally fuels for road transport. The company plans to spend $500 million over the next ten years to establish a dedicated biosciences energy research laboratory attached to a major academic centre in the US or UK, the first facility of its kind in the world.  |

Expro acquires PWS, a leading supplier of well testing and other flow management products and services to the global oil and gas industry for $674.5 million (£366.0 million). | Talisman Energy Sells Canadian Non-Core Assets for $379 Million | 19/06/2006 |
Talisman Energy Canada, a wholly owned subsidiary of Talisman Energy Inc., enters into number of agreements for sale of non-strategic assets in Canada. These sales are expected to generate proceeds of C$379 million, made up of $371 million in cash, plus $8 million in land and other strategic assets.  |
| Chevron Forms Strategic Research Alliance | 19/06/2006 |
Chevron Corporation and the Georgia Institute of Technology form strategic research alliance to pursue advanced technology aimed at making cellulosic biofuels and hydrogen viable transportation fuels. Chevron Technology Ventures, a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation, plans to collaborate with Georgia Tech's Strategic Energy Institute and contribute up to $12 million over five years for research into and development of these emerging energy technologies.  |

A 35-year record 147 applications by 121 companies for new UK oil and gas exploration and production licences point to a continuing strong interest in the North Sea, Energy Minister Malcolm Wicks said this week, as 24th Licensing Round applications deadline passed.  |
| BP and DuPont Form Partnership to Develop Advanced Biofuels | 26/06/2006 |
BP and DuPont announced creation of partnership to develop, produce and market next generation of biofuels to help meet increasing global demand for renewable transport fuels. BP and DuPont have been working together since 2003 to develop advanced biofuels with properties that can help overcome the limitations of existing biofuels. That work has now progressed to the point where they are able to bring the first jointly developed product to market.  |
| Kerr-McGee Announces Merger into Anadarko | 26/06/2006 |
Kerr-McGee Corp. announces its board of directors unanimously approved an all cash offer of $70.50 per common share to merge into Anadarko Petroleum Corp. Transaction subject to approval of Kerr-McGee shareholders as well as other customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close by end of third quarter. |
| BP to Sell Coryton Refinery in Essex | 28/06/2006 |
BP's decision to place asset on the market follows a review of the company's European refining portfolio which concluded that maintaining a smaller network of advantaged refineries in Europe would provide greater benefit to the BP Group. Coryton started up in 1953 and currently employs in the region of 540 BP staff and numerous contractors.  |
| New Government Website for Public Sector Contracts | 29/06/2006 |
There are now more than 7,000 Government contracts advertised on a new business portal which removes the barriers faced by many small businesses to access public sector contracts. More than 10,000 suppliers have also registered on the Supply2.gov.uk site, the first Government-supported service of its kind in the UK to give businesses the opportunity to access lower-value public sector contracts, typically under £100,000 in value, from central and local Government.  |
