China National BlueStar Contract for Shaw Group

Shaw Group's Stone & Webster unit has been selected to license and supply process design services for its Purification and Recovery Technology to China National BlueStar (Group) Corporation, a top chemical company in China . The technology, which enables the recovery of ethylene and propylene from a Catalytic Pyrolysis Processing (CPP) unit, will be applied in BlueStar's Shenyang Paraffin-Wax Chemical Co. (SPCC), Shenyang Chemical Group Corporation's 135,000 tons per year ethylene plant in Liaoning Province, China. Shaw will also license and provide basic engineering for its proprietary Cracking Furnace Technology and Ripple Tray technology.

China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) will provide the technology for the reactor/regenerator and primary fractionation sections and perform basic and detailed engineering.

J.M. Bernhard, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Shaw, said, "This project integrates Sinopec's CPP technology with Shaw Stone & Webster's Purification and Recovery Technology. This first commercial application will enable our customer to convert low-cost, heavy feedstock to valuable products such as ethylene and propylene. We look forward to working with SPCC Shenyang Chemical Group Corporation and Sinopec as we continue to apply our proprietary technologies in China."

China National BlueStar (Group) Corporation is a large state-owned enterprise directly under the charge of the state and a subsidiary of ChemChina Group Corporation. The company is headquartered in Beijing and has a total asset value of over RMB 24 billion and annual sales revenue of over RMB 23.5 billion.
