Jacobs Receives Uhde India EPCM Contract
Jacobs Engineering Group has received a contract from Uhde India Ltd. to provide engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services for a greenfield alumina refinery in the Rayagada District of Orissa State, India.
Jacobs scope shall be about 30 percent of the entire project. The new refinery is scheduled for completion in mid-2009.
Uhde, a leading consultancy organization in India, is building the refinery for Utkal Alumina International Ltd. (a joint venture of Hindalco, an Aditya Birla Group Company in India, and Alcan in Canada).
Jacobs EPCM services will involve the refinery's bauxite crushing, calcination, storage, material handling, auxiliary buildings and facilities, and utilities systems. Uhde is providing engineering services for the process plant based on Alcan technology.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Arlan Emmert stated, "We are pleased to be teamed with Uhde for the execution of this very challenging project. The Uhde/Jacobs team is enthusiastically committed to delivering a state-of-the-art facility that will produce high value returns to the owners."
