Atkins Acquires Engineering Consultancy MSL Engineering Ltd

Atkins, Europe's largest multidisciplinary consultancy, announces the acquisition of engineering consultancy MSL Engineering Ltd from the founding shareholders for a cash consideration of £6.8 million.

MSL specialises in integrity management of offshore oil and gas installations, with significant contracts in Houston and the Gulf of Mexico. This complements Atkins' strong position in integrity management, which traditionally has been biased towards the North Sea. MSL's activities have been supported by the development of a state-of-the-art software tool, known as Fleet Management System (FMS), which will be introduced to Atkins' client base.

Atkins is a global leader in oil and gas integrity management and the acquisition will further expand the Group's service offering and geographic coverage and boost its strong organic growth in this area.

MSL employs approximately 70 staff with offices in Houston, Texas, Egham, Surrey and Port of Spain, Trinidad. Atkins will fully integrate MSL into its existing oil & gas business.
