Shaw Stone & Webster Awarded Contract for Mercury Control System
The Shaw Stone & Webster unit has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction contract by PSEG Power Connecticut LLC, an affiliate of Public Service Enterprise Group, to retrofit Unit 3 at the Bridgeport Harbor Generating Station in Bridgeport, Connecticut, with mercury control equipment.
Work under the contract, which includes startup and performance testing, is scheduled for completion in 2008. The contract is valued at over $100 million.
J.M. Bernhard, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Shaw, said, "We are committed to assisting our power generation clients in creating environmentally sound solutions to address air emissions issues. Shaw is already a leader in the flue gas desulphurization or "scrubber" market and we believe our mercury control solutions will lead that market also. We are excited about this award from PSEG, and are pleased to have been chosen by them for this very important project."
