Gazprom to Meet YPFB
Gazprom is to meet with Bolivia's hydrocarbons minister Andris Soliz and state oil firm YPFB president Jorge Alvarado in the week beginning April 3 to discuss possible participation in Bolivia's hydrocarbons sector, government news service ABI reported. The Russian company is interested in several areas of the hydrocarbons chain, the statement said.
Soliz believes Gazprom and YPFB will form a joint venture to participate in exploration activities and industrialisation as well as the construction of gas and oil pipelines.
Japanese company Mitsubishi is also interested in investing in Bolivia's energy sector, Argentine paper La Gaceta quoted Soliz as saying.
Bolivia has been exploring alternative export markets for its natural gas as the country charges less than international prices to neighboring Argentina and Brazil.
Gazprom exports its gas to Europe, China and Japan.
