KCA Deutag Drilling Norge Awarded Drilling Contract Extension

KCA DEUTAGKCA DEUTAG Drilling Norge AS has confirmed that its contract with Hydro for production drilling services on six of the company's fixed installations on the Norwegian continental shelf has been extended for two years, until 1 July 2008. The contract is worth around NOK 900 million and is the first of three, two-year options on the six platforms.

The contract comprises drilling of production wells on the fixed installations Oseberg South, Oseberg East, Oseberg C, Oseberg B, Brage and Njord, which Hydro operates on the Norwegian continental shelf.

Hydro is currently drilling production wells on four installations - Oseberg South, Oseberg B, Oseberg C and Njord. On Brage, a new production drilling campaign is planned from the autumn of 2006. At present, Hydro is building a new integrated drilling module on Oseberg East, and will, according to current plans, begin a new phase of drilling and maintenance activity on the platform in early 2007.

Brian Taylor, KCA DEUTAG Director UK, Norway, Caspian & Sakhalin, said: "This is clearly very good news for KCA DEUTAG. I am confident that we will deliver an excellent service to Hydro, fulfilling our vision of Safe, Effective, Trouble Free Operations and I look forward to securing the further two, two- year extensions."
