Jacobs to Provide Construction Management At-risk Services
A Jacobs Engineering subsidiary has received a contract from Pinellas County (Florida) Utilities to provide construction management at-risk services for a new water treatment/blending facility.
The new $64-million water blending facility will provide uniform water quality to all of Pinellas County Utilities' nearly 665,000 customers (retail and wholesale) and replace obsolete water treatment and pumping infrastructure. The project includes the construction of a 72-million-gallon-per-day municipal water plant that blends treated water from multiple type water sources (groundwater, surface water, and seawater desalination), provides chemical treatment, and pumps the water into the existing distribution system. The project includes high-service pumps and pumping facilities, two 10-million gallon ground storage tanks, chemical storage and treatment facilities, a power generator system, a transfer pump station, and an administration building.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Allyn Taylor stated, "We are excited to be part of this very important project. The opportunity to provide a modern, state-of-the-art facility to manage the quality of water supplied to Pinellas County further strengthens our commitment to help Florida meet its critical infrastructure needs."
