Fluor To Install Gas Compression Station in Spain
Fluor has been selected by Enagas - Spain's largest natural-gas supplier - to install a large gas-compression station in Alcazar de San Juan, Spain. Under the terms of the $52-million contract, Fluor will be responsible for detailed engineering, procurement services and construction management.
Associated with the new gas pipeline being built between Argelia and Almeria, Spain, the project is necessary to meet Spain's growing demand for gas. The facility will compress gas for distribution within the Spanish high-pressure gas network. Fluor will install the latest proven technology in turbo-compressors at the Alcazar de San Juan site.
"We look forward to building on our history with Enagas," said Jeff Faulk, Fluor's group president of Energy & Chemicals. "We promise to deliver world-class results to Enagas, just as we have provided on its projects in Huelva and Cartagena, Spain."
Completion is scheduled for the beginning of 2008, with work executed in Fluor's Madrid office.
Enagas is the main natural gas transport company in Spain, with a market share of more than 90 percent. The company owns three of the four operating regasification plants in country (Huelva, Barcelona and Cartagena), has more than 6,200 kilometers of high-pressure gas pipelines, two underground gas storage facilities and several international links (Maghreb, Norwat via France, Portugal and LNG entry points).
