CB&I to Supply Sulfur Processing Unit for Major U.S. Refiner
CB&I has been awarded a contract by a major U.S. refiner to design and build an amine regeneration unit to assist in sulfur removal at one of the customer's U.S. refineries. The project is valued in excess of US$45 million.
CB&I's work scope includes engineering, procurement and modular fabrication of an amine regeneration unit consisting of two sections with a combined design capacity of approximately 1,800 gallons per minute of amine regeneration capability. The unit is part of the refinery's amine treating system which uses an amine-based solvent to remove acid gases (sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide) from the flue gas streams from the coker and fluid catalytic cracking unit. The project is scheduled for completion in third quarter 2006.
Gerald M. Glenn, CB&I's Chairman, President and CEO, stated, "Drawing upon our extensive experience in sulfur control and oil and gas processing, we offer refiners cost-effective and reliable solutions for clean fuels production. We are pleased to continue our association with this valued customer as a key supplier for their clean fuels projects."
