ExxonMobil Chemical to Expand Baton Rouge IPA Plant
ExxonMobil Chemical is to increase the production capacity of isopropyl alcohol (IPA) at its Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA plant. The last upgrade of this plant was completed in 2003.
The project, which is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2006, will increase the nameplate capacity of the world's largest IPA plant to 380 kt/year.
ExxonMobil has been in the IPA business for over 80 years and today has a strong presence in markets around the world. "Over the years, ExxonMobil Chemical has consistently invested in its IPA manufacturing, technology and supply chain capabilities," said T.J. Wojnar, vice president, Fluids Global Business Unit, ExxonMobil Chemical Company. "Expanding the manufacturing capacity of the Baton Rouge IPA plant is another demonstration of our ongoing commitment to serve our global fluids customers."
