Foster Wheeler Awarded BASF FINA Petrochemicals Contract
Foster Wheeler Ltd's U.S. subsidiary in its Global Power Group has been awarded a contract for two package boilers by BASF FINA Petrochemicals Limited Partnership (BFLP). Foster Wheeler will supply two custom-designed, shop-assembled package boilers, each capable of producing 250,000 pounds per hour of high pressure, high temperature steam for BFLP's petrochemicals facility in Port Arthur, Texas.
BFLP is a joint venture between two of the world's largest chemical and petrochemical companies, BASF Corporation and TOTAL Petrochemicals USA Inc. (formerly ATOFINA Petrochemicals), a subsidiary of TOTAL. BASF operates the largest steam cracker of its type in the world at Port Arthur, turning naphtha and light hydrocarbons into ethylene, propylene and other raw materials. The cracker's products are ultimately used in the manufacture of hundreds of consumer products.
"We have utilized our worldwide sourcing and fabrication facilities to provide a cost-effective, high value product which meets our client's needs," said Bernard H. Cherry, chief executive officer of Foster Wheeler's Global Power Group. "These boilers are among the highest pressure and highest temperature package boilers ever supplied by Foster Wheeler."
