Wood Group Wins First Gas Turbine Service Contract in Russia

Wood GroupWood Group Light Industrial Turbines Ltd (WGLIT) has been awarded a gas turbine service contract by one of Russia's largest oil production companies, Surgutneftegas.

Valued at more than $2 million, the contract covers inspection, service and supply of spare parts for three Siemens Tornado gas turbines operated in the Tyanskoe Oil Field in the Tymen region of Western Siberia.

David McKendrick, Business Development Director of Aberdeen, Scotland-based WGLIT, said: "This represents WGLIT's first contract win in the Russian gas turbine market, where, together with our agent for Russia, ETR Systems Ltd, we identified and acted on the growing opportunity for independent service providers to offer more cost-effective and flexible maintenance solutions. We believe this will be the catalyst for further work for us in Russia."

Roman Dubinin, Head of Surgutneftegas' Power Procurement Section, said: "Together, Wood Group and ETR Systems offer competitive prices, improved contract terms and conditions, highly cost-effective parts solutions based on refurbishment rather than replacement, and an innovative and flexible service schedule for our gas turbines."

Surgutneftegas is an Open Joint Stock Company active in gas and oilfield construction and development, oil and gas production and marketing, and the production and marketing of oil and petrochemical products.
