Marathon Oil Updates Operations Impacted by Hurricane Rita

Marathon Oil Corporation logoMarathon Oil Corporation has provided the following update concerning company operations impacted by Hurricane Rita.

Refining
Marathon Petroleum Company's (MPC) Texas City, Texas, refinery has begun start-up. Refinery units will be brought on-line as appropriate, according to our safe start procedures.

MPC's other refineries in the Midwest and Gulf Coast continue to operate at normal capacity.

Pipeline
Some pipeline systems operated by Marathon Pipe Line were shutdown previously. Personnel are developing plans to address storm damage and begin start-up of the pipelines.

Emergency Response
The company's Corporate Emergency Response Team (CERT) continues to coordinate response activities to address employee and operational needs in Houston and Texas City, Texas, and Lafayette, La.

Oil & Gas Production
The Ewing Bank platform (130 miles south of New Orleans; 17,000 gross barrels of oil per day and 17.5 gross million cubic feet of gas per day) and three South Pass platforms (1,500 gross barrels of oil per day and 7.5 gross million cubic feet of gas per day) continues to remain shut in.

Personnel will be conducting assessments.

Houston Office
Marathon Oil Company's corporate office in Houston is open for employees 26 September. Employees should report as soon as they are able to do so. We are asking employees to return to work no later than Wednesday, September 28.
